Once again, it was the summer season in Astrub. Hot and humid days not felt in at least 20 years by the towns mix of peoples. Xelor?s can be seen by river banks soaking their whole bodies in the rivers to keep cool under their mass of bandages. Ecaflips weren?t far behind either, you?d never catch one getting a shorter fur cut than necessary but one or two were seen with such an embarrassment in an attempt to beat the horrid heat. Srams seemed not to even to mind the change in weather. Mostly because they wore little, a fact that made the common man or woman take a second look. Many a man who glanced at a Sram woman pass found their ear being yanked by their betrothed.
Astrub had always had it?s fair amount of homeless. Though the majority of them weren?t those down on their luck. Many were just adventurers whose home was anywhere the laid their heads for the night. This particular night however we look in upon a modest home within the city walls, a home for those without homes. Astrub?s orphanage. The war made many a children parentless, so the need for such a place was vital for the survival of the next generation. This orphanage had two caretakers and ten children of various age. Most of the children were just average children with hopes of being adopted into a simple life, but a few had other dreams. One child, age nine or ten, no one knew for sure because he was left as a doorstep child, was planning his fifth attempt to run away from the orphanage despite the protest from a good friend.
